A du Paquier, Vienna, two handled covered beaker and saucer
Circa 1725
Height 9.6 cm
Width of saucer 12.6 cm
Incised Z to beaker
The fluted body applied with angular handles and decorated in iron red with flower sprays and dog tooth border.
The form of the beaker and trembleuse saucer derives from Meissen Böttger porcelain pieces. The hand-carved nature of the fluting and the rather clumsily fitting lid suggests an early date. The lid is a rare survival.
