A Guerhard et Dihl biscuit group of La Fileuse or La Fontaine

42.0 cm  high,   30.5 cm wide

The subject is probably taken from an opera and a ballet of Jean Joseph Vadé(1720-1752), poet, songwriter and playwright. An opera, La Fileuse, was performed on 8 March 1752 and a ballet with singing, La Fontaine, was performed on 16 Sept. 1754.
The sculptor Charles Gabriel Sauvage, called Lemire, 1741-1827, also worked at the factories of Lunéville and Niderviller.
With a modern turned wood base.

Condition – No restoration, minor damages to extremities
