A LARGE BÖTTGER PORCELAIN BEAKER

Circa 1715
10.2 cm high, 10.0 cm diam.

Applied in high relief with three scrolling acanthus sprays below an everted rim.

The function of this exceptionally large beaker is unknown, too big for tea or coffee, perhaps intended for warm milk or beer. The acanthus sprays supply grip as well as decoration.

We are not aware of another of this size. 

Condition:
Fine 2 cm hairline crack in the rim
