A Meissen Böttger porcelain beaker painted by Ignaz Priessler

Porcelain 1715-20; decoration circa 1725

7.6 cm high

Decorated in iron red and highlighted with gold, depicting two chinoiserie scenes framed within elaborate strapwork containing birds, fruits and flowers.

Records survive stating that Ignaz Preissler mostly painted chinoiseries (Indijanische Figuren und landschaften) in iron-red or black.

Condition – One 1 cm flat chip to rim restored, and minute chips to rim.
