A Tournai glazed white group of La Déclaration, attributed to Nicolas Lecreux

The gallant holding three birds in his hat approaches his lover seated on rockwork before a tree.

This figure is after a drawing by Nicolas Lecreux (1733-1798), illustrated by Soil de Moriamé, Les Porcelaine de Tournay, 1910, pl. XVII, no. 813 (p.389), where it is described as La Déclaration. The series of ink drawings, now in the Musées Royaux d’Art et d’Histoire, Brussels, appeared in an exhibition in 1898 in Tournai (see page 81 and 82) and were by family tradition of the owners attributed to Lecreux.

This group appears to be unrecorded.

Condition – One branch broken, minor damages to leaves and tips of fingers. The tree possibly restuck along a luting join.
