AN EARLY ARITA DISH

Decorated with three fish to the centre, the border with eddying waves moulded in shallow relief.

This rare pattern is one of the more striking of the many designs created for the domestic Japanese market by their inventive potters.

An almost identical dish can be found in the Complete Catalogue of the Shibata Collection (The Kyushu Ceramic Museum, 2019, p. 77, no.0606).

Condition:
Perfect, no restoration
