Chelsea plates after botanical engravings have become known as ‘Hans Sloane’ plates and reflect Sir Hans Sloane’s enlightened interest in the classification of plants and his support for the Chelsea Physic Garden.

The source of many of these specimens have been identified by Sally Kevill-Davies and others in the illustrations of botanists such as Georg Dionysius Ehret and others. This specimen has not yet been found.

Condition:
Very slight flaking to the enamels, no restoration
