A LE NOVE TEABOWL AND A SAUCER
Factory of Pasquale Antonibon , Venice
Circa 1765-70
The saucer 11.5 cm diam.
Iron-red star marks, incised scratch to teabowl
Although this teabowl and saucer were acquired separately by Sir Bruno Welby from two dealers then in Kensington Church Street, the buildings in the background in a pale mauve make them a convincing match.
A saucer with the identical scene of two figures with a donkey from the Barozzi Collection is illustrated by Molfino[i] and another is in the British Museum.
